Seriously stripped down to desktop illumination essentials, Switch Minimalist Lamp by William Lee does away with the on/off switch, and even the power cord (it's rechargeable).

The entire lamp emulates the familiar wall switch by laying flat when off, then rising at a touch to a cantilevered on position, turning on the 60-LED light source, with portability an unplug away.
