All about tactile engagement with a rich desert area, Tucson Mountain Retreat by DUST, in Arizona's Sonoran Desert, is situated with careful regard to "adjacent arroyos, rock out-croppings, ancient cacti, animal migration paths, air movement, sun exposure and views."

The home is divided into three disconnected volumes, each reached by a trip outside. Parking is located 400' away, accessible by narrow path. The construction is primarily rammed earth, blending into the terrain. A 30,000 gallon filtered rainwater harvesting system handles water scarcity. Via ArchDaily. Photos by Jeff Goldberg/Esto.
