The Fishtank by Studio Droog
by Ted Savage / March 22, 2013
Looking to knock-offs for new inspiration, The Fishtank by Studio Droog is one of 26 3D printed works in Droog's The New Original, an exhibition collection that explores imitation as a source of new design.

Focused around Shenzhen, China, the "epicenter of copycat culture," and China's push to shed its copycat image, Dutch and Chinese artists created new works by copying something essentially Chinese. The Fishtank takes the large aquariums found as standard decor in Amsterdam Chinese restaurants, and puts the eatery inside. The exhibition runs at the Hi Space, Zhen Jia Shopping Mall, Guangzhou, China, March 9 to April 9, 2013. Via Design.nl.
