Responding to "the waste of suburban sprawl," Misfits employs oriented strand board as a front and center material, contrasting with its extensive use as a more cost-effective plywood replacement in housing development.

OSB, which has largely replaced plywood in North American new home construction, has been slammed in the press for rotting, edge swelling, and moisture retention leading to hazardous mold, the results of improper installation - problems not present with indoor furniture.
