Designed with a nod to history as a tiny medieval castle in a neighbourhood of wooden homes in Nakatsu, Oita, Japan, Broken Pitched Roof House by NKS Architects is set around massive, plank-finished, poured concrete partitions.




The sloped roof sweeps up to a central skylight that illuminates the continuous interior space. Glass walls open out into multiple tiny landscaped courtyards that work with the hardwood flooring throughout to soften the concrete presence. Via ArchDaily.
