Playing with the doors of perception, the Slit Camera series by Jay Mark Johnson takes photography into a surreal and thought-provoking new region by putting a slit scan camera to unconventional work.

CLAUDIO, STELLA E FARFALLA

The specialized rotating gear, usually used to capture high definition panoramas as a series of narrow slit exposures, is employed instead in stationary mode to record time: the slower-moving the object, the more it stretches across the frame, the faster, the more compressed, in these images comprised of narrow strips.
