The idea for the lamp came about when the designers were searching for a simple way to regulate the light. "The movement can bring the lamp closer for greater intensity in either a study table, in a restaurant or in a reading area or a work area." says Bañó and Galvañ.

The name Gossip came from the lamp's movement as it resembles that of a person leaning to whisper. "This movement is the main value of the lamp along with the contrast between the warmth of wood and the cold light of the LEDs..."
