Jean-Jean Shelving by Numéro 111
by Harry / January 9, 2012
From Galerie Gosserez, two shelving units of different sizes and wood types are placed side by side to form a single piece of furniture, "a paradoxical format on the verge of tumbling, simply bound by two thumbscrews which allow it to subtly become one."

"Independent and back to back, each module becomes the necessary complement of the other. The rough, natural wood interlocks and confronts the superficial and smooth appearance of the painted wood to give rise to a sculptural and functional piece."

The hybrid shelving unit is by design trio Numéro 111; Sophie Françon, Jennifer Julien and Grégory Peyrache. More at Numéro 111. Photos: Johan Meallier.
