Double Tube 2 by Iwahori Hideki Architectural Design Office
by Ted Savage / October 4, 2011
Via @designboom, a weekend home in coastal Japan for a couple living in the heart of Tokyo, conceived as a "machine for environmental exchange," is designed as "an assembly of partitions that create linear and parallel spaces that open up to the site, much like a series of tubes."

The house "renders itself transparent" with glass facades facing north and south. Privacy is easily controlled with exterior floor-to-ceiling collapsible vertical shutters. More at Iwahori Hideki Architectural Design Office. Photos: Hiroshi Ueda.
