WaterShed, Solar Decathlon Winner
Via @jetsongreen, and the winner is...Watershed, from the University of Maryland, overall winner in the 10 exacting categories of the US Dept. of Energy's Solar Decathlon 2011 competition. Features include a solar thermal wall, green roof, a garden and edible wall system, a constructed wetland that helps filter and recycle greywater, two interior liquid desiccant waterfall systems for humidity control, and of course, a home automation system.
A crowd favorite, Watershed placed first in Architecture, and tied for first in Hot Water and Energy balance.
