City Cottage by Verstas Architects
Via @designboom, the prototype for a tiny, easily-moved cabin-in-the-woods, in a public park in Helsinki, Finland, weekend home to a family of four, only a short bike ride from their urban home. The cabin includes a galley kitchen, a Danish steel fireplace, and a sleeping loft accessible by rope ladder.
Efficient use of the cabin's 150 sq. ft. is accomplished with "fixed furniture and storage techniques typically found in boats." It is entirely solar-powered. Bathroom facilities are not incorporated. A kit version, disassembled, without windows or furniture, is now available for about $18,500US. More at Verstas Architects. Photo: Tuomas Uusheimo.
