Sundail Tattoo With Ring by Bless
From Josee Lepage & Bless, a tattoo and ring sundial. The sun casts a shadow from its style (the ring) onto a the hand tattooed with lines indicating the hours of the day.
Part of a show at Berlin gallery Arratia Beer titled "As Long As It Lasts...", the Sundail Tattoo With Ring is one of several tattoos that were presented.
From Josee Lepage:
First mounted at Art Basel Miami Beach/Design Miami, As long as it lasts... is a temporary tattoo parlor with permanent repercussions. Prominent artists and designers have been invited to create tattoos that will be inked on-site, by a professional tattoo artist, on any visitor or passerby who is prepared to make the commitment. The tattoos' creators come from all persuasions, but the questions remain the same: What does it mean for a body to be "signed" by an artist? What is the relationship between author and audience, and how far will art and design lovers go?
As long as it lasts...was first mounted at Art Basel Miami Beach/Design Miami in 2007, when it was organized by Josee Lepage, Aric Chen and the late Tobias Wong. With an entirely new roster of artists and designs, the Berlin edition is organized by Josee Lepage, Aric Chen, Euridice Arratia and Various Projects, and will include tattoos by:
Bless, Peter Marino, Constantin and Laurene Boym, Damián Ortega, Fernando Bryce, Dexter Sinister, Mariana Castillo Deball, Kiki Smith, Wim Delvoye, Frances Starck, Cao Fei, Francesco Vezzoli, Jaime Hayon, Lawrence Weiner, Christian Jankowski, Andrew Zuckermann
