Brick Sofa bi KiBiSi
by Mike / October 18, 2010
Via @davidreport, a sofa inspired by the classic "Stretcher" brick bond pattern, where a line of bricks is offset by half a brick. KiBiSi partner Bjarke Ingels couldn't find the right architect's sofa for his apartment, so he designed this one made of cushions tied together and fixed with a molded fiber concrete button - another architectural reference. Says Ingels: "What is a sofa but a pile of pillows for maximum comfort? Turning the habitual modularity of sofa design into a virtue, the Brick explores the tectonic of bricklaying to stack sandbag like cushions into architecture for comfort."
