L'Horta Eco Security Alarm by Que Maten Al Diseñador

A great example of slow design is the Horta eco security alarm by Que Maten al Diseñador that makes use of live crickets, based on their use in Chinese and Japanese cultures.

The cricket cage has been updated, but the theory remains the same: the crickets are very vocal throughout the night, becoming silent only when anyone enters the house. This signal of silence earned the crickets status as good luck.

Live crickets were, indeed, present at NUDE during Valencia Disseny Week.
