Why did it take so long to invent tangle free cable? Whoever invented it please call Apple. It's brilliant, and even though it's just a detail, it's one of the many things that makes these headphones great in my book.

The Stretch is a tough, flexible headphone design for "discerning action sports enthusiasts" and/or people with large heads like mine. It's a collaborative effort The Stretch; Philips and O'Neill, Philips for the electronics and O'Neill for the wetsuit inspired super stretchy headband - which works quite well. These headphones are the most comfortable I've ever tried.

The headphone is made mostly of TR55LX, a translucent material like polycarbonate (the material most commonly used in headphones) but is six times tougher than polycarbonate, so it's impact resistant, high stress crack resistant, and is still flexible even at low temperatures. Which means that I can wear these headphones in winter at sub zero temperatures and they'll remain flexible and not crack. It also means that I can use these headphones as earmuffs!

Tangle free cord, wetsuit inspired super stretchy headband, TR55LX wonder material, could there possibly be more? Yep. They sound pretty good, maybe not audiophile good, but amazingly good for such a light package - especially the bass. The cushions work well to keep external noise out too.

The illustrative sketches you see here were all created by Chris Sweet using Autodesk's Sketchbook Pro because favorite designs, yours and mine, begin with an idea and quite often with the kind of sketches you see here.
