Design the World: Microsoft Arc Keyboard
This post is sponsored by Autodesk. Another in a series of posts on the things we actually own and use here at MoCo Loco.
I live and work in a small space so technology that helps me get things done, that can mulitask and not take up too much space on its own, is well, welcome.
The Microsoft Arc Keyboard is one of those compact "solutions" that beyond its slick design is surprisingly useful.
As its name implies the keyboard is curved but it's also amazingly thin and light, and yet with all that, the keyboard feels solid and the keys have just as much travel as some laptops I've used. The typing is easy. This keyboard is ideal when one is in a relaxed mode, lying on the couch, chatting or writing. It's also nice not having six pounds of laptop to balance on the knees while typing.
The functional details are where objects make or break an experience, good looking design is pleasing, but not enough - make life easy and I'll truly appreciate it. The Arc is wifi wireless, which if you've ever setup a wireless router you know there's potential for... challenge. It took all of five seconds for my PC to recognize this "device" when I inserted the transceiver into the USB port. I was typing in six. :) Yes! A nice touch is the tiny storage compartment on the back of the keyboard for the transceiver, which leads to...
The best part - the Arc Keyboard also works with my Xbox. Typing any text with a game controller drives me crazy. Like with the PC, once the Arc transceiver was plugged into the Xbox the keyboard worked instantly. Now, is Microsoft Word available for Xbox?

The illustrative sketches you see here were all created by Chris Sweet using Autodesk's Sketchbook Pro because favorite designs, yours and mine, begin with an idea and quite often with the kind of sketches you see here.
