Meticulously cross-stitched QR codes have been framed in embroidery hoops for viewers to scan by smart phone in order to access videos by Didi Dunphy at Modern Convenience.

Rush

As a piece of art, there are three components: the framed embroidery, the individual videos (Glare and Rush are our faves) and the ensuing performance art when strangers must interact in order to view the work.

Wish

Says Didi, "The combination of laborious women's handy work and the rapidity of the newest technology for hand held devices, really interested me. The scans have a direct sculptural relationship to the video works, when people are hovering around them taking pictures, it created a performance of sorts and an pro-active interaction within the viewers."

It is a video installation without the usual cumbersome required equipment. Best viewed on cel phone screens, the videos can be seen directly at rush.dididunphy.com, glare.dididunphy.com and wish.dididunphy.com.
