Adam Frank’s light-based interactive installations play with the juxtaposition of virtual and real shadows and light. Shadow is an installation that projects a disembodied shadow on the ground, one that will try to merge with the viewer’s own shadow, creating an invasion of personal space. Sunray is an animated sun projected onto the ceiling of Grand Central Station. At certain times of the day, viewers will feel they have seen the real sun, as the ceiling appears to disappear. And Inside is an enclosure with small holes in walls and ceiling in order to use images of the surrounding site for a moving projection inside. There’s nothing quite like messing with one’s perception of reality and perspective, is there?
