Molly Hatch uses ceramic plates to create an unusual canvas. Taking "the mysterious, disembodied luxury of antique decorative objects from her mother's family" as inspiration, Hatch creates individual plate paintings that make up a larger tableware tableau when put together in a grid. Hatch scales up elements from these decorative objects of long ago, using the past and her own history to inform a contemporary practice that respects traditional decorative works and ceramics while participating in their evolution.
