Simians in classical, painterly settings are the order of the day in Paul Pretzer's new series of work. Very serious monkeys (and other similar creatures) pose with an array of unusual items, but manage to make it all look sensible. Perhaps the formal cloaks make all the difference. Also part of this series are a group of still life paintings depicting a variety of metal cans, mostly crushed.
