Tokyo artist Haroshi transforms used skateboard decks into colourful sculptures that sport a striped pattern achieved through stacking the boards in order to expose the outer edges. Once the layers are completed, Haroshi creates his patterns of stripes and mosaics, composes an approximation of the desired shape and then carves this into the final form. All colour comes from the graphics and pigments already in the decks. Haroshi's new works are currently being shown as an exhibition entitled Virtual Reality, a nod to the classic skate video of the same name.
