Berlin-based Marin Majić offers us paintings that reek of nostalgia, but present a twist. The scene appears to be matter-of-fact, as though it is normal to be covered in numerous gift-wrap ribbons, reverse the way you'd usually hold a large dog or stand angled on a woody slope. Why not? Majić's style is quite classical and painterly, almost at odds with a somewhat tongue-in-cheek narrative. But it works; it is difficult to look away.
