Swallows at 9pm by Stephen Taylor
The mighty oak becomes an icon for British painter Stephen Taylor, who featured the same tree in fifty paintings over a three-year period. The crops in the famer's fields around it rotate, a variety of birds forage among the branches and the sky passes from blue to indigo to the deepest, darkest grey. One artist's journey through time but not space culminated in both a rich collection of work and a book documenting the process (which includes an introduction by Alain de Botton).
