Somatös by Gereon Krebber
Somatös, the title of Gereon Krebber's current exhibition, is a blend of notions: the somatic, or physiological, and the comatose. It seems the concept is meant to imply a state of uncertainty, yet the sculptures are somewhat imposing. Some are made of polyurethane (spray foam), coated in epoxy casting resin, all curling strands that make up a dark volume, almost wormy. Others are cellulose and concrete, giant egg-like boulders. Indeed, the pieces are quite physically present, and mesmerizing in their silence.
