Sideways by Yoskay Yamamoto
In his first all-sculpture exhibition, Yoskay Yamamoto presents a series of figures based on iconic childhood and pop culture characters. Yamamoto, who combines urban pop art with traditional Japanese elements, blends two very different cultures for a decidedly modern take on east and west. The sculptures are made from a variety of materials: plastic, resin, vinyl, and hand sculpted wood. References range from Bart Simpson, the Moomins and the Stay Puft Man to Hello Kitty, Pikachu and the Kewpie Doll, among others.
