Stepping Stones by John Dempcy
In a way, looking at John Dempcy's paintings feels as though one is peering into a magical petri dish. A kaleidoscope of cell-like structures results; they appear to spin or move fluidly through watery colour. Or is it the glass beads of Murano that are evoked? Forming abstract mosaics, they charm the eye. Dempcy applies acrylic paint in drops onto wet clayboard, letting his tools work towards a sense of ordered chaos. Beautiful compositions, all.
