When John McNamara reflected upon doing a series of portraits of people in the public eye, he realized that merging two individuals into one would make for an interesting challenge. Thus, Mergers: 10 Paintings - 20 Portraits came into being. The blending is not exactly seamless; the viewer is aware that it takes two halves to make a whole. Hillary joins Obama, Mother Teresa meets up with Princess Di, and Jacko goes back in time.
