Paris by Sarah Williams
Late at night, only bright, industrial lights cast an artificial warmth over silent carwashes, gas stations and other roadside attractions in paintings by Sarah Williams. The Texas artist uses these urban landscapes as her focus for an exhibition entitled Nightfall, where the sense of isolation is palpable. Williams' work with light and shadow is beautiful and incisive; the viewer is both drawn towards the scene and somehow repelled by it.
