Written Forgotten by Victor Castillo
Work from Victor Castillo's new show, Masters of the Universe, brings together references to the wonderful world of Disney spliced with inspiration from Goya and Velasquez. At first glance, this could be anyone's lost youth ... except for the sausage links. But this is a make-believe world whose characters wear grotesque masks that give away nothing. The landscapes are but shadowy backdrops. What's it all about? "... a critical reaction to a society which is guided by violence, racism and degeneration."
