Found, Free and Flea: Creating Collections from Vintage Treasures by Tereasa Surratt is a charming example of how easy it is to turn hoarding into eye-catching installations. When the author and her husband bought a Wisconsin camp a few years ago, their goal was to make use of the many wonderful souvenirs of the former resort's history. Grouping items together by theme, colour or era makes creating tableaus that are lively results of scavenger hunts through flea markets, yard sales and Grandpa's garage. The emphasis here is on vintage items with a camp or cottage theme, but this book, based on a very personal quest to honour the past, is sure to inspire other themes on a much smaller scale. It might be time to take another look at your collections and figure out how to mount your own exhibitions. A fun book for any fan of cottage style, or anyone who wants to extend the summer.
