Sarah Hinckley, who works in oils and waterolours, takes inspiration from the colours of a Cape Cod childhood. Elements of water, marsh, sea and sky can be found in her colour field paintings, which tend towards being quietly bold. Shades of Rothko, Agnes Martin and later Monet combine with everyday moments to feed her works on paper and canvas. Distinct swathes of colour and abstraction work together to face the viewer with confidence.
