New work by Toronto textile artist Kerry Croghan will be exhibited at the Gladstone Hotel Café from June 30 through November 1, 2011. Entitled Façade, this series of abstract textile prints is based on the city's architecture. Croghan uses a mix of techniques such as watercolour and silkscreen to translate the dynamics of the often harsh urban structures into a softer rendition of pattern and hue. Façade feels like iron girders, sunset over towering condos, the lakefront, the playground of the streets ... In short, whatever the city may bring out in us.
