Brandi Brooks' paintings are personal statements that reflect moments in time that can be captured only by the artist. Brooks almost sculpts her paintings, creating strong expressions of colour and texture and making it easy to choose a favourite in each batch of new work. Is it the colour scheme of Already I Am Satisfied that creates the yearning, or the circular motion? Neither would be complete without the horizontal thick line that looks like what happens when you draw your finger across the top of a birthday cake.
