For Albert Oehlen's latest series of paintings, the artist has created oil paintings over collages made from art catalogues and posters. The paint is concentrated at the centre of the composition, allowing the work underneath a chance to be exposed. The original offering is made more complex through this layering of texture and context. Although the titles (fashion, mountain pasture, suction, coins, on the veranda) would indicate subjects of a more concrete nature, the visuals show us that everything can be abstracted, softened and blurred.
