Patrick Martinez creates present day still lifes by replacing the opulence of flowers and ceramic jugs with Cheetos, booze and pop. Any formerly luxurious bowls of fruit are now bananas wearing their brown spots. Frame the scene with some neon and the art of the everyday takes on an even brighter shine. Particularly poignant are the portraits of Martinez' parents peeping out from behind the glow of a harsh reality.
