Big Machine is an exhibition of recent work by Rosa Ruey that is comprised of a series of mixed media collages that evoke the inner workings of machinery. Her work is a reflection of our attempts to control that which cannot be controlled and the resulting anxiety, fear and doubt. Ruey suggests these emotions or energies might be transformed into playful systems. Although these are works on paper, they have a sculptural aspect that echoes the structure of industrial forms, detailed components and all.
