The Snow Yak Show by Mark Ryden is a book of work presented at a Tokyo gallery in 2009. All the scenes are set against a winter white backdrop with accents of soft grey, powder blue and pink and star abominable snowmen, wide-eyed snow yaks and a range of chilly snow nymphs. The content may be mistaken for cute, but is, in fact, disquieting, a sensation only heightened by the icy landscape. The viewer is not made privy to the roles of these creatures, but is left to divine the narrative surrounding this wintry theme.
