Bold swathes of colour from the same family creep across the canvas, settling into a fish scale-like pattern. Martin Creed included variations on a theme in different hues in his new show. The technique results in a mood of strength and openness, but with a measure of control. Each group of colours creates a different atmosphere, building in intensity as we go from blue to red to green.
