The collective is the theme in Tunnel Vision, a series of eight large-scale oil paintings by Christian Vincent. Groups of males present a foreboding force in paintings that evoke propaganda pictures. The group mentality is depicted in images of an infinite number of boys lined up for what must surely be an enforced swim, a group of boys in uniform jumping off a cliff and a picture of an ominous gathering that is most likely not a baseball game. Are we to challenge the group or adhere to a larger social identity?
