Electric colours explode from black backgrounds in Maya Hayuk's somewhat psychedelic murals. Her geometric shapes make up vivid abstracts that are sometimes mandala-like with their symmetries. Information about her current show explains, "Influences abound from Madras patterns and hand woven blankets, to outer space, nail art, her Ukrainian heritage and holograms." And yet, figurative work in the form of smaller canvases, like sexy hamburgers and "she" shells, also sneaks in.
