Peter Vos closes in on birds and animals to capture their personality for portraits that almost approach the anthropomorphic. Through the subjects' eyes we see feel the invasion of space, in spite of it being clear that the artist comes in peace. The mood has been described as "intimate yet oppressive." The details afforded by the close-ups reveal great technique skill, but not as a trade-off for warmth.
