Pard Morrison's works of patinated aluminum are a cross between painting and sculpture. The box-like volume of the pieces lend them a sculptural feel, but the techniques used to patinate the welded boxes are, indeed, quite painterly. The pieces are baked several times so that they take on a glazed ceramic effect with evidence of brushstrokes. The dimensionality and choice of colours lend the work an air of large Licorice Allsorts that beg to be handled.
