John Diebel layers vintage paper for backgrounds to his collages of cartoon-inspired line drawings of bald characters with beaks who figure in narratives of a vintage flavour as well. "Themes of urban space, lost architecture, dystopian societies and totalitarian regimes" are depicted in a way that softens the sometimes harsh of the message. Especially noteworthy are the ladies, who retain an air of elegance despite their lack of expression and the oddness of their features.
