The texture and properties of paint in pieces by Tobias Tovera work together to create a sort of topography of an imaginary plane. These vivid images can viewed as depictions of mood or emotion, an atmosphere built of feelings. Tovera, a San Francisco-based painter, says of his work, "I want my audience to be left with questions and confronted by a raw sense of what it means to be human."
