As You Disappear In Between the Seasons by Yoskay Yamamoto
by sabine7 / July 8, 2010

In Japanese artist Yoskay Yamamoto's new series of work, Familiar Strangers, there is an emphasis on the search for one's true identity. The artist states, "I feel that I am always trying to fit in with others instead of finding or creating an environment that will naturally accept me as who I am. With the attempt and effort to fit in, I feel that we lose a sense of ourselves and become a familiar stranger within our own body." Flowers, the seasons and elements figure strongly in this body of paintings, along with Yamamoto's usual focus on ethereal young women.
