Doreen Westphal opts for concrete as a base material for traditional ceramic products such as tiles, mugs and vases in her search for more sustainable practices. Apparently concrete uses 50 times less energy than conventional ceramics, despite perception that it is not green. The mugs and vases are certainly appealing in a rough, strong way, with some delicate embellishment for contrast. In Milan Westphal also showed objects fossilized in tiles to represent the things we can do without, in terms of a triage in order to create a new world.
