Another intriguing book we saw in Milan was How They Work: The Hidden World of Dutch Design. Photographer Inga Powilleit and stylist Tatjana Quax look at the methodologies of seventeen Dutch designers. Hella Jongerius, Job Smeets & Nynke Tynagel, Claudy Jongstra, Dick van Hoff, Wieki Somers, Marcel Wanders, Petra Blaisse, Jurgen Bey & Rianne Makkink, Piet Hein Eek, Richard Hutten, Joep van Lieshout, Gijs Bakker, Evelyne Merkx, Ineke Hans and Bertjan Pot are the cream of the Dutch crop. What do they have in common? A strong work ethic, a "healthy lack of respect for convention" and the drive to leave their own mark. Each chapter looks at one designer and the portraits offer a behind-the-scenes peek at these powerful creatives.
