Painter Marion Wagschal has been on the Montreal art scene since the 1970s with challenging work that is rich in textures both intellectual and figurative. There is something of Ensor about Wagschal's work, in the pale swirls of muddied tones that make up vividly human characters. Her body of work covers topics such as the psychological and bodily issues of aging, gender and sex, to family histories, relationships, and environment concerns.
