Sweet Dreams by Torsten Ruehle
by sabine7 / May 26, 2010

Born in Dresden and based in Berlin, Torsten Ruehle takes images and reconstructs them by adding layers of colour and shadows. The surreal result is then embellished further by way of thick black lines of pigment pen, which provides an eerie cartoon-like essence to the work. Delineating objects also gives an air of collage to the work. Often Ruehle will use images from films and classic interiors, adding his own version of "technicolour" to create a sort of still life with people where time seems to have been paused.
