Charley Harper - An Illustrated Life is a beautiful monograph of the oeuvre of one of America's foremost illustrators of animals and nature, although he was certainly a dab hand at the people world, too. Edited by Todd Oldham, an avid collector of Harper's work, this edition is smaller (and much more affordable) than the original limited edition book that came out after Harper's death in 2007, yet includes the same work. The reproductions are from The Giant Golden Book of Biology, Betty Crocker's Dinner For Two Cook Book, The Animal Kingdom, Birds and Words, as well as work done for Ford and other commercial works. If you are already a fan of Charley Harper's minimal realism, you will love this book. And if you're not yet a fan, this book will play an important part in turning you into one.
